Remember when getting good grades was simple? Show up. Do the work. Study for the test. Turn assignments in on time. Then one day, adulthood arrived and someone handed you a management title. Suddenly, the skills that made you successful weren't necessarily the skills needed to lead others. And yet, this is exactly how many organizations develop managers. A top salesperson becomes Sales Manager. A great technician becomes Operations Manager.

Remember the first day of school? You showed up with fresh notebooks, sharpened pencils, and at least a little optimism that this year was going to be different. Teachers reviewed expectations. Classroom rules were explained. Everyone knew where they were supposed to sit, what assignments were due, and what success looked like. Now imagine if none of that happened. No syllabus. No expectations. No deadlines. No grading criteria.

Every manager remembers the employee who resigned and seemingly came out of nowhere. One day they were showing up, doing their work, attending meetings, and hitting deadlines.
